L.A Noire to span across 3 disc on Xbox 360
Rockstar Games confirmed yesterday L.A Noire will span across three disc on the Xbox 360.
If you have been following L.A Noire as much as I have, you would know Rockstar Games have kept very quite on talk about the Xbox 360 version of the game, until yesterday. Rockstar confirmed L.A Noire will take up three Xbox 360 disc, and fills a single-layer, 25GB Blu-Ray disc on the Playstation 3. In short, L.A Noire isn’t a small game by any means.
Additionally, they created so much content that it carried over to DLC.
“L.A. Noire was always going to be a massive game, from the size and detail of the world to the length of the cases, and of course, the sheer amount of MotionScan data required for the faces of over 400 actors in-game. To tell the story and make the game we wanted to make, we knew that it was going to take an entire single layer Blu-ray disc and three Xbox discs.”
This doesn’t mean the game will take three times as long to complete to lets say, Grand Theft Auto IV or Red Dead Redemption. Simply because Rockstar’s new motion technology requires a tremendous amount of storage. There have been reports of L.A Noire taking any where from around 20-30 hours to complete. According to Rockstar, these rumors may be true.
“Throughout development, we created lots of great cases, the bulk of which were central to the main story of Cole Phelps and his rise through the ranks of the LAPD, alongside other cases that felt more like strong stand-alone episodes. This gave us a powerful main story, and left us with quality extra content that we wanted to put out as DLC, that would slot seamlessly into the existing game.”
Sounds good to me.
With L.A Noire being on three disc, many gamers are worried about disc swapping. No worries say’s Rockstar.
“Since the game is built around the concept of progressing through individual cases from desk to desk, players on Xbox will find disc-swapping is hassle-free. In fact, players will only need to swap discs twice at natural breaks between cases without interrupting the flow of the game.”
Now I don’t know about you, but I simply cannot wait for this game. Rockstar swept the floor last year winning multiple Game of the Year awards for Red Dead Redemption. A game I was also extremely excited for, and it looks Rockstar Games just might do it again. With L.A Noire being Lost Generation Gaming’s pick of the month. Expect a ton of L.A Noire coverage in the coming weeks.
